Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Finance Manager to lead our financial operations, strategic budgeting, and regulatory compliance as we scale.

Responsibilities

Monthly cycle:
• Own the month-end close process: ensure all transactions are recorded, reconciliations completed, and
accruals/prepayments posted.
• Prepare and present the monthly management reporting pack (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow,
receivables aging, KPI dashboard) to the Managing Partner.
• Run budget-vs-actual variance analysis and flag deviations beyond ±10% tolerance with explanations
and recommended actions.
• Supervise and review the Finance Officer's work: Xero data entry, bank reconciliations, invoice
processing, and expense documentation compliance.
• Maintain the multi-account cash flow tracker, including FX conversion for USD holdings and cash
position reporting against floor/ceiling thresholds.
Weekly cycle:
• Manage the aged receivables position: run the weekly aged debtor report, follow up on overdue
balances, escalate accounts per recovery policy and maintain the collections log.
• Review and approve expense transactions processed through Bujeti, ensuring appropriate third-party
invoices/support are attached.
• Monitor bank balances across all accounts and flag any liquidity concern

Requirements

Required Education and Certificates
• Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc. / B.Tech) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance,
Economics, or a related discipline. A master's degree or MBA is an added advantage.
• Professional accounting qualification: ICAN or ACCA membership required.

Required Years & Type of Experience
• Minimum 5-7 years post-qualification experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in
a supervisory capacity.
• Experience in a professional services firm (law, consulting, audit) preferred.
• Understanding of service-based revenue recognition, WIP/deferred income, client trust accounting,
and partner/proprietor equity structures.
• Prior experience with external audit coordination (either as preparer or as auditor).
• Experience with Nigerian pension and tax compliance (VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc)

Technical Competencies & Core Skills
• Proficiency in use of accounting software (Xero experience desired).
• Strong Excel skills: financial modelling, pivot tables, lookups, scenario analysis.
• Working knowledge of IFRS standards relevant to a services firm.
• Familiarity with Nigerian payroll systems (SeamlessHR or equivalent) and expense management
platforms (Bujeti or equivalent).
• Ability to prepare management accounts, financial statements, and board-quality reporting packs.
• Strong written communication.
• Analytical rigour — ability to interrogate numbers, identify anomalies, and explain variances without
being prompted
